BBC GOOD FOOD SHOW BECKONS FOR WELSH FOOD AND DRINK PRODUCERS
Food and drink producers from around Wales are gearing up for one of the busiest and most important food events of the year – the BBC Good Food Show Winter Show (November 23-27).
Held at the NEC in Birmingham, the BBC Good Food Show is the biggest consumer food and drink exhibition in the UK.
Over five days the event attracts more than 90,000 of food-loving visitors looking to try and buy the latest products and stock-up on firm favourites in time for Christmas.
Five companies will be exhibiting at the Show’s Producer’s Village area under the auspices of the Welsh Government’s True Taste brand. While at the Wales the True Taste Kitchen a variety of activities including sampling, quizzes and producer interviews will take place.
Among the exhibitors is the Snowdonia Cheese Company which will be selling and sampling its popular award-winning cheeses.
The colourfully packed range includes Black Bomber, Green Thunder, Red Devil, Pickle Power, Ginger Spice, Amber Mist, and Bouncing Berry.
With Christmas in mind, the company will also be offering seasonal gift bags featuring four cheese truckles and its Orchard Apple Chutney.
Wye Valley based Kingstone Brewery will be exhibiting its complete range of bottled beers at the Show.
The brewery, which is near the historic Tintern Abbey, produces a number of beers in a variety of strengths and flavours: Tewdric’s Tipple (3.8% ABV), Challenger Ale (4% ABV), Kingstone Gold Fine Ale (4% ABV), Classic Bitter (4.5% ABV), Abbey Ale (5.1% ABV), Humpty’s Fuddle IPA (5.8% ABV), 1503 Tudor Ale (4.8% ABV), and No1 Premium Stout (4.4% ABV).
At its purpose built manufacturing facility in Pontyclun, Samosaco produces an extensive range of 100% vegetarian products.
The company’s range of samosas, bhajees, pakoras, bhajee mixes, samosa and bhajee retail packs, sauces and pickles are free from any artificial preservatives, additives, MSG or GM products.
New on show will be a variety of products including: onion bhajee mix, gluten free onion bhajee mix, gluten free pakora mix, gluten free south indian pakora mix, gluten free fish pakora mix, gluten free chicken pakora mix. Also four varieties of large vegetarian samosas, four varieties of smaller chilled retail packs of samosas and bhajees including a gluten free range of snacks.
Brecon based artisan ice cream fruit ices and ice cream cakes producers, Llanfaes Dairy make over 90 different flavours at its Ice Cream Parlour in Llanfaes where visitors can watch production through a viewing window.
Flavours available at the BBC Good Food Show include Raspberry Pavlova, Lemon Cheesecake and Salty Peanut.
The finest ingredients and a local underground water source are what go into making Llangollen Brewery’s country ales.
The small, family-run brewery from North Wales produces craft beer in casks and bottles, and available at the NEC will be: Grange No 1 (3.2% ABV), Llangollen Bitter (4.2% ABV), and Welsh Black Bitter (5.5% ABV), as well as gift packs.
In addition a number of Wales the True Taste Food and Drink Award winning companies will also be featured in the sampling sessions including: Rachel’s, Gower Cottage Brownies, Trethowan’s Dairy Limited, Goetre Farm Preserves, Cradoc’s Savoury Biscuits, and Holden Farm Dairy.
