Jeremy Benson comes from a generation of farmers and in 2002 was visiting his parents at their fruit farm in Lanchester, Northumberland. His father Jonathon offered him a glass of apple juice that had been made by simply pressing the apples - nothing else added; just fresh fruity apple juice. Jeremy thought that it tasted great so took some barrels to a local music festival where it sold out immediately. That was the start of Bensons Simply Pressed and now we are Totally Fruity! The juice is made in the traditional way using the finest English apples. The apples are pressed on the on the farm, on an old country estate owned by the National Trust right in the heart of the Cotswolds, using a simple process that has been around for centuries. What makes us particularly proud about our products is the fact that the Juice is made without adding water or sugar, they are additive and preservative free, and we only use English apples sourced locally whenever available, we never ever use concentrates all of this makes them suitable for diabetics too. Using only the finest seasonal English apples, is at the core - no pun intended- of what Bensons do. Bensons believe passionately that by using only English apples we are doing our bit to keep the orchards in England thriving especially as 60% of England's orchards have disappeared since the 1950s. Bensons want to continue to support rural agriculture and are always looking for new suppliers so we can share in the success of others as we continue to grow as a business. In July Cotswold Life held their Food & Drink Awards and we received a highly commended in the Drinks Product of the Year category for our Apple Juice. This was followed a month later by becoming Winner of the best Non Alcoholic Drinks Producer Category in the Taste of Gloucestershire Awards. The icing on the cake for this year, was to have gained Red Tractor Accreditation for our Apple Juice, the first Apple Juice Company in the UK to do so, because of this Red Tractor designed a new Logo especially for us.
