Chef Suvir Saran appearances in the Magimix Theatre at BBC Good Food Show:

- Wednesday November 26th – 2 pm- Thursday November 27th – 1 pm- Friday November 28th   - 3 pm- Saturday November 29th – 1 pm- Sunday November 30th - 2 pm

Suvir Saran is the author of two widely acclaimed cookbooks, American Masala: 125 Classics From My Home and Indian Home Cooking: A Fresh Introduction to Indian Food with More Than 150 Recipes. He is also co-chef/owner of Michelin one-star rated Dévi restaurant in New York City.

Paul Farmer, Managing Director of Wade Ceramics Ltd, met Suvir Saran at the home of a mutual friend in Chicago in 2006.  Paul is a good home cook who is passionate about Indian cuisine.  He bonded with Suvir as they talked about their love of roasting and crushing spices by hand to coax out their true essences.

Especially intriguing to Paul Farmer was Suvir Saran’s description of his American Masala cookbook – a user-friendly cookery book that isn’t about Indian food, but about adding new flavours using spice mixtures to enliven food and dining experiences.

Paul and Suvir started talking in earnest about an American Masala range of ceramic kitchenware, knives, cutlery, and high-quality tapletop products for food preparation and home entertaining.  Now, the American Masala Collection by Wade Ceramics is being introduced in the UK and the United States, beginning with specially designed colourful mortar and pestle sets, ceramic trivets and a collection of ceramic knives, all inspired by the colours, textures and decorative arts of Saran’s native India.

For one hour prior to Suvir Saran’s daily appearances in the Magimix theatre, Suvir will be at Wade Ceramics Stand T145 in Hall 19 at the BBC Good Food Show where he will show how to use his specially designed Mortar & Pestle to grind spices, legumes and herbs. He adjusted the traditional pestle design to create a wider-than-usual base, making it easy to use and to prevent ingredients from popping out of the mortar.

Saran will demonstrate use of his ergonomically-friendly Ceramic Knives and talk about their lightness, ease of use, “sexy” appearance and cutting attributes. He will also show off his three handsomely-designed, highly-functional Ceramic Trivets that feature intricate raised details reminiscent of those found at the Taj Mahal.

Media Interviews:Chef Suvir Saran and Paul Farmer, Managing Director, Wade Ceramics Ltd., the co-creators of the American Masala Collection, will be available for interviews throughout the show.
