This week our blog post comes courtesy of our go-to artisan food specialist at Fabulous Food Finds. We work with Katy to help discover small, independent food and drink producers that we’re sure you’ll love.
We’ve been busy searching, approving and curating the very best selection of artisan and speciality producers for you at the upcoming Summer Show. The BBC Good Food Champions area is full of unique finds - you’ll discover something new, delicious and maybe even unusual to share with your friends, family and fellow food lovers.
Here are Katy’s tips on the must-visit stands to head to at the BBC Good Food Show Summer, opening next Thursday, 14 June…
We get so excited when start-ups and new producers exhibit at the Show and hope you’ll love them too. Sweetmeat Inc, who recently relocated to Birmingham, make an irresistible range of fudge. The Nut Kitchen blend the highest quality Sicilian nuts from their farm to create a fantastic variety of nut butters. Big Bowse, another Birmingham local, lovingly hand make their delicious and nutritious hot sauces; a great addition to a Summer BBQ. If you love a nice cuppa as much as a good gin, you'll love Noveltea with their boozy earl grey tea with gin or Moroccan mint tea with rum!
Regular Show goers will be pleased to see old favourites The Cornish Cheese Company with their deliciously creamy and mild blue cheese; Casa De L’Oli return with their range of infused olive oils and gorgeous olive wood gifts too. A stop at the Condessa Welsh Liqueurs stand to see the lovely Sally and Matt with their heart-warming banter and liqueurs will complete your visit to the Show, we love their new look bottles too.
Every year we award small, deserving, and most of all outstanding, producers with a bursary to attend the Show through the Producers Bursary Awards. This year Single Variety Co wowed the judges with their incredible range of preserves and jams, all made with just a single fruit variety. If you can get your hands on a jar of the Alphonso Mango preserve you must, it’s incredible. Macneil’s Smokehouse creates a range of delicious smoked fish and meats. Last year their smoked mackerel was included in the Great Taste Awards’ 50 Best Foods; what an accolade!
Spice seekers will love the convenience of Holy Lama Spice Drops which come in handy little bottles to replace your everyday herbs and spices, and it's also great for summer cocktails too. Spice Kitchen will have their ever-popular spice tins wrapped in gorgeous silk saris, and BoTree will be bringing a seasoning renaissance to the shows with their Cambodian salt and peppers. Chilli fans will love Mr Vikki’s range of chilli sauces, jams and curry - take the opportunity to taste the range, if you dare?!
