A delicious celebration was had by all in Birmingham last month as over 100,000 food-lovers joined us at the BBC Good Food Show. Now we’re taking some time to reflect on a fabulous summer Show!
From Big Kitchen highlights to tasty treats and brilliant new masterclasses, see what we got up to at this year’s BBC Good Food Show. Plus, get a sneak peek at the festive foodie fun and get a taste of what to expect at this year’s winter Show.
Our Big Kitchen audiences were entertained and inspired by top chefs and experts in lots of fantastic sessions. Prue Leith joined the line-up, Ainsley Harriott returned to the Show for the first time in a decade bringing plenty of Caribbean fun and flavours, and Mary Berry took to the stage with gardening favourite Alan Titchmarsh. Nadiya Hussain wowed our audiences with sumptuous summer recipes, and Tom Kerridge and Michel Roux Jr brought a Michelin flare to the stage and demoed delicious recipes we’ll certainly be cooking up in our own kitchen.
Travelsphere showed us just how much food and travel go hand-in-hand as guest chef Lotte Duncan whisked us away to the shores of the Amalfi Coast, swiftly moving this region to the top of our bucket list!
There were lots of opportunities to get hands-on as the Good Food team led some brilliant masterclasses, from sushi making to fondant fancy decorating. Maille Mustard, with the world’s only Mustard Sommelier, shared samples in a unique tasting theatre, and Drinks Academy Live hosted sold-out sessions in unusual spirits, botanical gins and more. We were well and truly in the spirit of summer!
There were plenty of lunch options, from sizzling street food to the BBC Good Food Pop-Up Restaurant, and we can't forget about the Michelin-style menu at the exclusive Lexus Lunch Club with dishes inspired by Tom Kerridge, Michel Roux Jr, Tommy Banks and Emily Roux. Fine dining moved from day to night with two exclusive Chefs’ Supper Clubs. Michel Roux Jr cooked at the beautiful Hampton Manor Hotel and Tom Kerridge joined local chef Glynn Purnell at Birmingham’s Purnell’s. Look out for more Chefs' Supper Club events happening later on this year.
We enjoyed 2 Shows in 1 as BBC Gardeners’ World Live adorned the NEC with flowers, plants and beautiful Show Gardens. Monty Don, Carol Klein and Joe Swift were among the gardening experts who took to the stage to plant plenty of inspiration and answer our gardening questions.
We sampled, shopped and discovered lots of new and exciting products and flavours, from the latest kitchen kit and delicious ingredients, to new gardening gadgets and beautiful plants. Over 600 exhibitors came together from both Shows to bring food and gardening alive for the summer season ahead - cue the garden parties!
Now summer is here, we can’t help but think ahead to the fabulous festivities in store this winter season!
It’s never too early to start planning a Christmas day out, so let you friends and family know that the BBC Good Food Show heads back to Birmingham’s NEC again this winter.
