It’s a quality that translated internationally too, with her shows now being shown in some 66 territories and her books published as far afield as the US to Australia. She has just completed filming of her first US series for Food Network which will late 2014.

She also found time at the end of last year to publish her first non-TV tie-in, A Lighter Way to Bake, a collection of sweet and savoury treats with less sugar, fat and salt. In addition to her brilliant foodie series and books, Lorraine recently made a documentary for BBC 2, Fostering & Me, in which she looked at her own experience of being fostered as a child and the experiences of foster children in the borough of Lambeth. The film aired in June 2014 to an overwhelming response and has served to highlight the need for more people to foster.

Prior to her cooking career, Lorraine was a top model for years but ultimately felt modelling wasn’t for her and decided to embark on a period of discovery – testing out jobs until she found the one right for her… she trained as a hypnotherapist, interior designer and even a mechanic until she undertook a diploma at Leith’s School of Food and Wine and has never looked back.

Lorraine is very supportive of the charities Barnardos and Tact, both of which deal with fostered and adopted children. She is also an ambassador for Rays of Sunshine, The Prince’s Trust and Sutton Community Farm.
