Summer Harvest Oils

Each bottle of Summer Harvest starts its journey to the dinner plate from the rich and beautiful land of Perthshire in the heart of rural Scotland. The soil, the water, the air and the attention to detail ensures that each bottle is bursting with flavour and packed with healthy goodness.

Summer Harvest Oils was founded by Mark Bush in 2008. While working as an IT consultant on the trading floor of a London investment bank, Mark developed a love for food and a passion for local, seasonal produce. He left his high flying city job (swapping his leather brogues for wellie boots) to pursue his passion and moved to Scotland to start working on his father-in-laws farm in rural Perthshire. After a season of growing vegetables and selling potatoes at his local farmers market, Mark looked into other produce. Mark’s father-in-law (David Cameron) was one of the first farmers in the area to grow oilseed rape (25 years previously). As no-one solely based in Scotland was producing ‘Cold Pressed Rapeseed Oil’, Mark decided to explore this market. In May 2008, Mark started pressing the seed, initially under contract, quickly developing a wide customer base. He now grows, presses, triple filters and bottles his premium oil on the farm and sells to the likes of Michael Smith from Three Chimneys, Mark Greenaway, Edinburgh and Andrew Fairlies at Gleneagles.

David, a fifth generation farmer is proud of his heritage and passionate about his produce. It is through his sensitive farming techniques along with the fertile Perthshire soil and perfectly suited weather that helps produce the soft smooth flavour that Summer Harvest Cold Pressed Rapeseed Oil is now well known for. Using Summer Harvest Oil and local handmade fruit vinegars, some of the finest Perthshire ingredients, Andrew Hamer, former executive chef of Gleneagles and now patron of Wilde Thyme (http://www.wilde-thyme.co.uk/), hand-makes a range of five Summer Harvest Dressings. Used by the likes of Gleneagles Hotel and Gloagburn Farm Shop, these premium dressings are the only range of dressings made using a Scottish oil and Scottish vinegars. These dressing are extremely versatile and can be used as salad dressings, dips or marinades.
