Penny Smith
Television and radio presenter, newsreader, journalist and global traveller, Penny Smith was born in Nottinghamshire and began her career as a reporter and feature writer on the Peterborough Evening Telegraph. Penny co-presented the news on Border TV and then went on to Thames News where she presented with Andrew Gardner. Penny then moved to Sky before her 17 year stint as the presenter on GMTV, ITV’s breakfast show.
Penny writes for a number of national newspapers and magazines and due to her love of opera she has presented an opera show on Classic FM and presented the ‘Kiri Prize’ on Radio 2, a nationwide hunt to find an opera star on Radio 2.
Penny is a big fan of yoga and has made three yoga videos.
Penny currently presents the weekend Breakfast Show on Talk Radio plus reviews the papers on the BBC and hosts The Wright Stuff from time to time. Due to her love of cultures and destinations around the world, Penny is the perfect Travel Ambassador for global tour operator Travelsphere, the headline sponsor of the BBC Good Food Show’s Big Kitchen.
Penny will be joining chef Marcus Bean in the Big Kitchen on 14 and 15 June when she will be talking about her combined love of travel and food along with her inspirations for travel.
